Chestnuts, tea and little kids.

I spent my afternoon with my host family’s grandkids (ages 4 and 6), and their two friends, playing with toy cars, teaching them how to say ‘fantasmo’ (ghost) and ‘strega’ (witch) in english, and watching old, black-and-white, Halloween Disney cartoons.

During dinner, we talked about politics, healthcare and the american government  in italian, all while peeling and eating oven roasted chestnuts.

It’s days like today that I know I’ll never forget.
